You can meet jellyfish and winter idols!
Autumn to Winter on Echizen CoastA collection of spectacular underwater creatures seen in the area
"You can't go in the sea during the cold season," "The sea in winter seems to have few creatures..." Actually, that's a big misunderstanding! The Echizen Coast in the fall and winter, with its crystal-clear waters, is home to jewels like jellyfish and rare idols!
"In the winter sea, there's no fish or other living things at all, right?"
In fact, from autumn to winter, the transparency of the Sea of Japan is at its highest throughout the year. The best season for the "macro-organisms (small, cute creatures)" to explodeWhat the hell!
Three reasons why Echizen Coast in the fall and winter is called a "diving sanctuary"
- 1 Unparalleled transparency (clear blue that can be seen all the way to the edge):In the fall and winter when plankton is scarce, the water becomes clear, giving you the feeling of floating in midair as if you were flying in the water.
- 2 The best season for jellyfish, the "jewel of the sea":Colorful jellyfish of various shapes gather in the shallows! You can enjoy it in a treasure hunt-like way.
- 3 Zero cold with a dedicated suit (dry suit):Because they wear special suits that allow them to dive while wearing clothes, their bodies remain dry and comfortable even in winter.
You can encounter them on the Echizen Coast in autumn and winter!
My beloved "spectacular underwater idols"
There is a world that is truly amazing for camera enthusiasts and those who love cute things!
The jewel of the sea
① Colorful jellyfish
Autumn to Spring GenerallyOnly about 1 to 3 cm in length! These jellyfish have vivid colors, like they were designed artificially—blue, yellow, pink, and dotted patterns. In Echizen during the autumn and winter, you can encounter dozens of jellyfish, and jellyfish enthusiasts from all over the country gather to see them.
Winter-only idol
② "Dangoouo", an idol limited to winter and spring
December to AprilA super cute fish that sticks to seaweed with suction cups in its belly—about the size of a dumpling (several millimeters to 1 cm)! With its cute, chubby shape and round eyes, everyone will be hooked from the first glance. There’s even a “angel’s ring” pattern on the newborn fish!
Spectacular clear blue waters
③ Fish and Matsukasa shark that glow in the clear blue water
Autumn to winter in generalIn autumn, groups of anglerfish and sepias swim around, their glittering scales reflecting the light; as winter approaches, you’ll also see “Matsukasa sharks” with a pineapple-like appearance and the relatives of the rock-dwelling group of lanternfishes (sanogoto), such as the lanternfish (sanogoto). There’s no end to the highlights!
But with no experience, I’m worried… Let’s solve all of that!
